Creating Mama Milyn's Food Packaging:
1. I met with Mama Milyn to get an understanding of her empanada business and how she wants to stand out from the crowd.
"I want people to try my empanadas and say "wow so this is what filipino food is" so they can get an authentic experience."
2. Immediately I began to think of traditional filipino clothing and filipino patterns for the brand identity behind her business. The point is that the empanadas are filipino and so the branding should highlight filipino culture.
3. Over the next few weeks I took inspiration from old vintage photos of filipino women in traditional clothing, studying their poses, their demeanor and the way they carried themselves. I began to sketch many different poses and clothing. I came up with two different logos and began to edit the logos in illustrator land.
4. Up next was placement of the logos on boxes, brown bags and white plastic containers since mama milyn should have options to see what she prefers best.
5. I met with the client to talk about the work and she was satisfied, no modifications needed this time. Voila, here we have the packaging for mama milyn's empanadas.
